Canadian Version of Money 2005 or 2006 |
|
|
Is it still true that only the basic version will be localized into
Canadian version?
None of the premium version or small business versions will be
localized?
Maybe it doesn't matter anymore? as long as you change your regional
and local setting in windows' contol panel, Money will work in Canadian
settings?

I don't know what will be some day. Today only Standard will work
with Canadian Money files. |

AFAIK from the wrong side of The Pond.
In order:-
True.
Correct.
Only standard contains the code to look at regional settings to decide if it
is US or Canadian.

Unfortunately, the last Canadian version that truly worked properly
was Money 2000 (which WAS available in a Canadian Deluxe version).
All "upgrades" since then have just been the US standard version with
a few tweaks for Canada, with a LOT of glitches (there is a lot of
stuff, particularly with respect to tax calcutlations, tracking cost
bases, etc. that is just different between US and Canada and using the
US version even with Canadian settings just doesn't get it right)
I had avoided upgrading until a few months ago when I got a new
computer with Money 2005 pre-loaded, and decided to give it a try.
Found so many problems and things that just didn't work right (that
worked in Money 2000 Canadian) that after trying it for two weeks I
cleaned it 2005 off my system and re-installed my old (and working)
Money 2000 (Note thats not an easy task, as Money 2000 is no longer
supported by MS, so a number of fixes you need to do this are no
longer available from MS update server).
