Hello --

Is it possible for a clerical assistant to prepare a "batch" of transaction
entries in QB, on another machine, and export it for import into the
controller's copy of QB?

It that is not possible, can a batch be created in a text file, Excel, etc,
for such import?

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this.

You can produce a spreadsheet for importing transactions. The data in the
spreadsheet must be in Intuit Interchange Format (iif). The instructional
link I found for creating an iif in 2003 version
http://search.intuit.com/KCS/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=http--wwwquickbookscom-support-faqs-qbw2003-84132html&sliceId=&dialogID=16630963
shows 12 steps necessary to manipulate the file.

The old iif is rapidly being replaced by the Intuit Software Development Kit
(SDK). http://developer.intuit.com/QuickBooksSDK/qbsdk.asp

With the SDK, it is possible to develop an add-on for your purpose. There
may already be an add-on that is acceptable for you. You can research
add-on's here
