Thoughts about Bush's speech |
|
|
I watched Bush last night and still thought it best to bring American
troops home rather then see them die for no reason. But this morning
I read comments such as these from families of the troops:
"And if it was to be him, I'd know he died making a sacrifice to save
his country."
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050629/D8B14SLO0.html
My only reasons for not supporting Bush was my belief that his war
kills American men needlessly. But if the families of these men
prefer they stay over there, then who the hell am I to object. I
hereby withdraw my opposition to Bush's war.
Maybe GW and the oily boys in the Texas petroleum industry can figure
out how to expand this war, killing more men while driving up the
price of oil.
BTW, I lost a bet with my wife. I had said GW would come strutting
out in his flight suit with a "Mission Accomplished" banner to impress
those Paratroopers.
As usual, the Warrior Prince made one unreported blunder. Ft Bragg
is *not* the home of the Airborne. It is the home of the 82nd
Airborne. Only Bush thinks that's the only Airborne of which he is
Commander. Men at the 101st Airborne at Ft Benning may think
otherwise. His people really should clue him in on little things like
that.

I think that is correct. The 101st is no longer a pure airborne division.

Excellent plan. I heard that Iran has a REAL army, which could bankrupt the
U.S. much faster than at present. |

I wondered where GW picked up that phrase. I knew that it (or
anything else) couldn't be original with him. He probably read it
on a sign as they drug his rickshaw through the main gate. But in
legal lingo, that is just puffery. The guys at Ft Bragg can say
anything they want. The head swami should use more care in his
declarations.
I see my old childhood friends, the 101st Airborne and Ranger
divisions, are now located at Ft Campbell Ky. But I'm sure they
still don't consider Ft Bragg as their home. |

At least you do see that President Bush told the truth and did not make
an unreported blunder. |

It doesn't matter. I'm sure that the 101st Airborne wouldn't have applauded
either. |
