I want to get a check register report, showing credit totals versus
debit totals, with none of this nonsense about categories and transfers
for a two-year period. Can Money do this?

You can File->Print the checking account register to get the whole
thing. Print to a file if you like. Normally you would want to
customize a report.

You can customize the Account Transactions report. In Rows&Columns,
unclick categories. Choose SubTotal:ByMonth or None.

Under the Accounts tab, select only the account you want.

In Dates, select your date range.

Select the other tabs to see if there is something else that needs
attention.

Get the report as you like it, and save it as a Favorite with
Favorites->AddToFavorites.

not what you want, but might give an idea or two.
