Okay, I recently downloaded M05 Deluxe and converted my files from M04
Deluxe. Like other folks here on the board, I'm having problems with Money
locking up after the sign on screen. The interesting thing is that this only
happens when I'm online. If I remove my wireless card from my laptop I can
start up Money and access my account with no problem whatsover, but if I am
connected or attempt to connect while Money is open, my CPU usage goes
through the roof and Money locks up faster than my high school girlfriend.

I've tried to disable the Passport login, but it'll lock up before I can
accomplish that feat. I've tried when I'm not online, but it won't let it
happen (I guess you have to be online to disable your online password...).

I've run all the repair and salvage files and everything is fine. While
offline, I've gone in and disabled all the online features that I could find,
but it still locks up and is utterly worthless. Definitely not worth the
price if you ask me.

Has anybody else experienced this? And is there any known fix?

Thanks

How recently? Before November 19th? If so, I wonder if the update
was applied before you downloaded and converted. If you do
Help->About... do you have a version of 14.0.12?.1105?

If not, I suggest you let Money run on line to download the update.

Have you tried Tools->Settings->SharingOptions?

Another thing that might get your update going if other things did
not succeed is to remove that network card. In Money do
File->New->NewFile. Create a new empty temporary file. Click Decline
during the setup process. Now with your network card operating,
close and open that file to get the update applied.

That IS interesting. So the ...10... would be the trial version
then.

I don't know what is hanging you up. I guess I would suggest you let
it run overnight to see if it will complete whatever it is doing to
let you make your change.

You might also try the File->Repair options to see if that helps.

Another thing to try is to copy your Money 2004 file (a copy was
saved as *.m12) to Scott5.mny. Open that with Money 2005, and let it
convert fresh. If given an opportunity to Decline, do so.

Cal -

Okay, I figured it out. I was so adamant that the Passport sign-in was
causing my problems that I reinstalled Money. As soon as I installed it I
turned off the Passport feature, which in turn prevented Money from
downloading the rest of the features.

However, this did allow me to do a Standard Repair. I had run this several
times before, finding nothing, but this time it found a problem in the Bills
section. I don't know if I had a corrupted file before or if it happened in
the conversion, but it appears as if that was my problem all along.

So, once I was sure that everything was fine I re-established the Passport
feature and (crossing my fingers) started up Money. Once it started it
downloaded the rest of the features. Just to be prudent (and because I'm
still gun-shy), I turned the Passport feature off and rebooted. Everything
works fine now.

So, if anyone is having the problem of Money crashing upon start-up, they
might have a corrupted file. I'm not sure if this will work for everyone,
but it might help.

BTW, I still don't have any online features working at this point. One by
one I'm going to set them up to make sure there weren't problems there...

Thanks
