Dear All,
I am very glad to have found this forum!
I have a few questions regarding investment strategy I am hoping I can get some help with.
I am twenty-four years old. I currently hold a roth IRA with a few thousand in it. I have $2,500 that I am looking to invest. Is it wise to contribute this money into the IRA or into a stock? I was looking at investing in the following:
T.Rowe no load mutual funds, mainly, a value account(TRVLX)
Average Annual Total Returns²
Month End
12-31-2006
1 Year 19.75%
3 Years 13.66%
5 Years 9.75%
10 Years 10.94%
I am looking to grow the money that I have. Any ideas on which way to go? Any and all help greatly appreciated.
Best Regards

There is not necessarily a best solution at your age, the key is to make sure that you invest that money. At the age of 24, you have a very long time to recover from any losses that you may incur. This is why a lot of financial planners and other people within the marketplace tend to advise young people to invest rather aggressively. If it were me, I would be placing a majority of that money in an aggressive stock portfolio. The remainder needs to go into the Roth. Money invested at an early age in the Roth will produce dividends big time and you will be handsomely rewarded when you retire.
If you are looking to hear more about the markets and hear from some of the most prestigious people on Wall Street, you might want to check out this conference I heard about. It is hosted at the University of Dayton and has some really good speakers coming this year. http://sba.udayton.edu/rise/ |
