I have 2 single copies of RMS 1.2. The first copy is running in our store
and until now I had not used my second copy. I had use the Manager and Admin
to logon to our store.

Today I thought it would be much faster to have a copy of our store db
running on my local PC. I just wanted to use this for testing and maybe even
use it for my Quickbooks interface.

I setup myself as and additional cashier in the store db before I restored
the db on my local PC. Well, everything is nice and fast when I logon now
but I have lost my "connection" to the POS.

I had thought that I would use my store cashier number when I want to
connect to the store db and my new cashier number when connecting to the
local copy. However, I cannot figure out what I have to do to have access to
either store or local db.

Any comments are greatly appreciated.

When you configure the database access in administrator to point to your
local database, you loose the connection to your pos database. You would
need to continually change the setup in administrator to go back and forth.

That was what I already tried. I selected the remote server and logged on.
However, when I go into an item list I have the results instantly, thus, I
don't think I am connected to the remote database. As I have only a 384kb
line to our store the normal access to any data on the POS takes quite a bit
longer. At the moment the response times I see are just too fast to be from
the POS.

Is there a way I can tell in the Manager which database I am connected to? I
see the server and db in the status bar of the administrator but nowhere on
the managers screen.

One more thing I found. I logged on to the (remote) POS in Administrator.
Then I started the POS which shows that I am working in a copy of the POS
database (I had added the word copy to the company information to ensure I
know when I am on which POS). So even it I set the administrator to connect
to the correct POS the POS itself and manager still connect to my local db.
