Hey, what is up w/ many of those European country iShares? Their stated
P/Es are in the 12 and 13 range. Where does the rest of the money go?
That is like a minimum 7.6 % interest rate if you use Buffett's line
of reasoning. I know we talk about mutual funds here, but an ETF is
sort of a mutual fund except you can trade them as you like. I was
looking at a list of Euro country iShares that my broker offers. Some
have taken off. Others not. Thoughts turned to European life in
general. Any of you been there? I was wondering if lands like France,
despite their recent news and ongoing wedgie-bashing of the US, were
actually fine, fine places to live for the culture.

Ed, I looked up some of those funds/ETFs you posted about. The EWW
looks a little intriguing. I am getting interested in diversifying
outside the US via ETFs. My broker has a good deal on buying them.
Whether they will make me money is another thing :).

BTW, what do you think of EWY? The P/E is 10.29 . Am I way off use the
earnings multiple as a benchmark of whether a fund has some margin of
safety?

The commission should be the same as for a stock trade.

P/E's for these, well I don't trust them. Barclays puts the iShares together
and they don't generally list the p/e. As far as EWY goes, how do you feel
about Samsung? It makes up a big chunk of this ETF.

Yeah, I saw that w/ EWY. For that, I am not a big fan of Samsung
products. They seem more cheap appearing than alot of Sony, Panasonic,
Canon, etc. electronics. But that is my opinion. So, buyng EWY is
buying a 22% stake w/ Samsung. Needs some review. But thanks, I saw
that EWY is equity weighted very lopsided. So, chasing returns on it
may be a little Quixotic. What else? I think global is a good way to
diversify w/ ETFs in some sense. This whole ETF sector
selling/trading is taking off due to the likes of people like me who
want some flexibility beyond what Vanguard, T Rowe, etc. offer for
market timing. A stock is a stock is a stock, though. I do like
hearing dirt on the funds and stocks because it helps you what to look
out for in the next batch of candidates. There will be others to choose
from.
