I recently switched to Quicken Deluxe 2005 from 2004.
Now when I download my credit card accounts the summary shows that the
transfer completed successfully but no transactions were available to
download.
I know I have new transactions that need to be downloaded.

Is there some problem in 2005 that I am unaware of.
Can anyone help me?

Thanks in Advance

John,

I did not deactivate the accounts a SV before deleting QEL.
When I reopened quicken the new qel was created.

The only negative is having to re-enter my 15 accounts in the Pin Vault. O
well...

Thanks again

I deleted (actually renamed) the QEL file.
Opened Quicken and ran the update and BINGO all the transaction
Downloaded. Go figure.

I guess you can add that one to your bag of tools.

Thanks for all your help. I appreciate it.

Actually deleting the qel file was sort of always in my bag of tools, but
for newer versions of Quicken that option had increasingly not been
helping (Quicken kept recreating the qel file with whatever the problem
was still in it), so I more or less stopped suggesting it. Since you have
had success with it, I will try to remember to suggest it again.

You did not say whether you deactivated all your accounts and tried
another validate (before renaming the .qel file). I am thinking that
re-creating the .qel file from scratch might not be similar to what a
validate would do if it was not restricted by activated accounts.

You may be thinking of refreshing the fi's profile. Online Center: hold
down CTRL+F3 while clicking Contact Info; in the resulting dialog box,
click Refresh. Then do a One Step update.

No change. Still says no transactions to download

Just in case - and for the record - here is a snippet directly
from Intuit on validating and the .qel file: "when online
accounts are activated the QEL is not validated completely". So
it is possible that your validate did not do all it was capable
of, if you had *any* accounts activated for transaction download
when you ran the validate.

That is what I was looking for but that didn't fix it either.
I don't get it.
This is a simple file operation. You would think after I deactivated a
reactivated it would want to download the entire history of the account.
I simply get NOTHING.

I love quicken and have been using it since DOS v2 but this kind of stuff
makes me wonder.

Any other "Hidden" functions you can think of?

Sorry, I should have said to deactivate the account for
transaction download before doing the validate; and it is
possible you may have to deactivate all accounts to get the qel
file validated. I do not know whether this will cause old
transactions to get downloaded afterward or not. Backup first.

I do not have any other suggestions, but I can tell you for
certain that if I lost downloading capability, I would be
willing to manually enter all my transactions if that was the
only way to restore downloading (I do not know that there is no
other way ...just commenting on the relative value I personally
put on downloading). And reverting should not require coming
even close to that since when you return to an older verision -
and downloads are working - the "missing" transactions (that
were previously downloaded) should get downloaded again.

One simple thing to try is to delete temporary internet files; it
sometimes solves the problem.

Another possibility is corruption in the file you converted; if the
conversion was recent, I think you would be better to revert to Q2004,
make a Quicken copy of your Q2004 data, super-Validate that copy, then
re-install Q2005 and convert the super-Validated copy to Q2005. Short of
that, you can try validating/super-validating your Q2005 data. In either
case, backup first.
