Quicken Deluxe vs. Premier |
|
|
I currently have Q2001 Deluxe and will be purchasing
Q2005. Of what I remember Q2001 Premier just added capabilities
to get mutual fund information and other things I don't need.
I have bank & credit card accounts, brokerage accounts, and
a 401(k). Basically I just use standard register transactions, reports,
and download transactions from Fidelity & Vanguard.
Is this still the case? If I've been happy with the features
with Q2001 Deluxe, I'll have the same features with
Q2005 Deluxe and not need Premier?
Thanks.

I found a webpage that compares the versions and I'm
still not sure:
http://www.shop.intuit.com/commerce/catalog/fragments/quicken/products/compare_q_2005.jhtml?priorityCode=23981
I don't care about:
Compare investments to market indexes
Get investing insights
Compare the Morningstar Rating on mutual funds
Find ways to minimize capital gains taxes
But what exactly are:
Analyze your portfolio
Generate Investment Reports
Generate Schedule A, B, and D tax reports
With Q2001, in Reports and Graphs there's
"How are my investments doing?"
Capital Gaines Report
Investment Asset Allocation Graph
Investmet Performance Report/Graph
Portfolio Value Report
Investment Income Report
Investment Transactions Report
Portfolio Value and Cost Basis Graph
"What is my tax situation?"
Tax Summary Report
Capital Gains Report
Tax Schedule Report
"How is my business doing?"
Profit and Loss Statement Report
...
Cash Flow Report
Does Q2005 Deluxe have the above or only in Premier? |

Q2005 Deluxe will provide you with the functionality you describe
above.
From the looks of it, the package contains Premier and H&B versions
also, which you can access by purchasing an unlock code. If you find
that the Deluxe version is lacking, it may be possible for you to just
purchase the code for Premier.

Thanks for the feedback. I perused Intuit's website and
it indicates a 60-day money back feature, so I should be
safe. |

How to delete Payto records |
|
|
Hi,
I am using Quicken 2004 Delux and I need to delete many "payto" records.
I know I can do a delete of one transaction at a time but I am interested in
doing several at a time. Is there a way?

What is a "'payto'" record? How do they differ from other
"records"? By records, do I assume you mean "transactions"?
You can only delete one transaction at a time in Quicken
versions prior to Q2005; unless you delete the entire account.

Hi John,
My bad; I meant the "Payee" records/transactions. In Q2004 we can sort by
payee records and there are hundreds I need to delete. I was just looking
for an easy out.
Is this feature available in Quicken 2005?

From what I have read, Q2005 has some very nice new features.
But it has one, possibly serious, drawback: it will no longer
import QIF files to checking, savings, and investment accounts
(and Q2006, when it arrives, will no longer import QIF files to
credit-card accounts).
And just to cover the bases, I think that Q2005 has at least one
more revision coming out; there do appear to be a couple of
issues with the current release. Double check the archives if
you have concerns.

I am still a bit confused.
There are "transactions" in account registers; you can only delete them
one-by-one unless you have Q2005 where you can select multiple
transactions to delete.
While Quicken doesn't consistently refer to payee records; both the
Memorized Transaction List and the Address book could be thought of as
repositories for "payee records". If you want to delete multiple records
from either of those lists, you can do so using standard Windows selection
techniques to select the records, then click delete.
