Greenspan Legacy

Alan took office on August 11, 1987.

When he took charge, outstanding consumer credit
was $672.2 billion. Now it is $2,147.4 billion

Household credit market debt was $2,711.54 billion,
and now it's $10,764.54

Domestic no-financial business debt was $1,974.1 billion,
and now it's $5,269.4 billion

Interest and currency derivatives was $865 billion, and
now it's $201.413 billion. (trillion?)

M3 was $3620.160 billion, and now it's $9976.729 billion

The trade deficit was $150.7 billion, and now it's $756.8 billion.

Foreign owned US assets were $1.7 trillion, and now it's $11.5
trillion.

OK....you got your whining off your chest....
Now.....what would YOU have done differently???

Face the music and help deal with the repercussions instead of
delaying them until the next guy's watch. You can't make it all
better with debt forever.

OK.....a new face in Feb......what do you think he should do with the
Fed Funds rate???(that's about all the Fed controls)......

Make debt very, very expensive. What's the highest the fed funds rate
has been in the past 50 years? Add a percent to that. Slam it. Of
course the bankruptcy laws have changed, too bad. Of course any major
change would send the economy down the toilet, well it's a matter of
speed anyway, might as well get it over with before China buys the
rest of the country.

If you are so unsure of your figures that the uncertainty involves 3 orders
of magnitude, why even bother to open your mouth?

Why waste our time with what we cannot change in the first place?

We can always buy and/or sell with the money they were shuffling
at us. We have NO influence about what any Central Bank does.

I have no problem with Greenspan, I have a problem with him getting the
Metal of Freedom today. Ali was also given it, how can you compare the
two. Ali stood up against a war he didn't believe in, he lost his
income because of his actions, he risked his freedom. Geez, how do you
compare the two.

Ah yes, a fighter that was afraid to fight and a man that did his best

to help his country, my yes how do you compare the two.

One looks like he lost an argument with a baseball bat.

The other was a boxer.
