I'm guessing, in part because I've never seen a condition like you are
describing where that column cannot be reordered regardless of what's in it:
customize it again to select all categories. Click at the top of the
category column in the displayed report. Then customize it again to the
category subset you want.

I have headers for cheque numbers or dates of payees or amount but not for
the categories. |

Try clicking the column header.

I just tried this in M056 with the Spending by Category report. I customized
it to provide only two subcategories. I could still click on the word
Subcategory at the top of the column and resort it.

Aha. We are talking about a Transactions By Category report subtotaled by
Category. It's always helpful when asking a report question to provide this
kind of information.
I can't seem to find any way to control the sort of these or to get it to
come out backwards. Of course, none of mine begin with numbers. Why that
would matter, I don't know. It seems goofy that it would, but this is Money
we are talking about. Have you tried resetting the customization and then
re-creating it?

I can click "Num" or "Date" or "Payee" or whatever but what I really want
is
to invert te oder of the Headings in bold:
99 - Twijfelgevallen
95 - Bureelbenodigdheden
94 - Producten
I want it like:
94- Producten
95 - Bureelbenodigdheden
99 - Twijfelgevallen |

I did what you suggest and it's OK now... It's hard to explain these kind of
problems without being able to "show" what goes wrong, especially when
English isn't your native language.
I'm glad I finally send a jpg file.... now I can pay my taxes (haha)
Thanks again.
(don't know if I love money that much... maybe I should switch to
Quicken????)
