On any given date, Money records debits first and credits last. Is there a
way to reverse this?

Are you sure it's not entry order for unnumbered transactions? Try entering
a credit then a debit by hand.

overdrawn before the deposit is entered which is not the case.

Being cynical, one might presume that's the same sequence in which the bank
will apply the debits and credits. That way they're more likely to trigger
overdrafts, i.e., fees.

I tried manual entry - works fine, but I never do manual entries. This occurs
when I import .qif from my bank. The content of the the file is most recent
transaction first. Even if the deposit is down in the list, Money enters it
last. I tried changing the date of the deposit to an earlier date then back
again, it goes right back to the old position of credits after debits for
that date.

This is not a huge problem for me. It's just that for a checking account
with a lot of activity it looks like the account is overdrawn before the
deposit is entered which is not the case.

I appreciate the cynicism but every bank I've dealt with has always posted
deposits before debits.

For what it's worth, Quicken also controls order of entry when imports qif
files but it records credits before debits.

I switched to Money because Intuit got greedy by doing away with support for
qif in favor of ofx. It was easier for me to switch applications rather than
to move to another bank.

If you're a huge financial institution it's no big deal to pay the license
fee to Intuit to use ofx. If you're a smaller bank or credit union you might
not be able to justify the fee, as is the case with my bank.

As a former Quicken user, I was annoyed at the transaction order of Money.
Federal regulations require the posting of all credits priot to debits for
the same day's business (for obvious reasons), and this is the way Qkn orders
the transactions...all credits followed by debits for any given day. Sad
this is not the case w/Mny.

I was unaware of that and question why Microsoft ignores it, if it's a
regulatory requirement for the banks.

Perhaps because they know that the balance at the end of the day is really
all that matters for Money's purposes.
