I was scanning through several of their magazines while at a friends
home. One thing I noticed is they are constantly mentioning in one way or
another t rowe price funds.
Are they somehow tied to t rowe price? I use vanguard, and it was
seldom mentioned. I think t rowe price funds were mentioned 10x to every one
else.
And explanations?

I'm scanning Kiplinger's every month, and I'd say that they mention TRP
funds as often as Vanguard's. Other families are discussed/mentioned
often too.

You can't open up a magazine (even non-investment mags) without seeing a T.
Rowe price ad... I use Vanguard as well because of lower cost and they
don't have stock holders they are beholen to...

TRP isn't bad... But Vanguard is better.

That's why they make chocolate and vanilla.

I have to admit that I smile every time I see the "lower cost" mentioned. If
Vanguard and T. Rowe Price were the only two places that sold mutual funds
and you could only pick one I would be investing with T. Rowe Price.

That said, I think most mutual fund companies are becoming restrictive in
more ways than I feel is tolerable. They will be losing market share to
Barclays Global and other providers of ETF's.

I very recently moved almost all I had with Vanguard to a broker. All that
is left with them is enough to pay for my first 2006 vacation, that's in a
money market fund. When the time comes I will close that account and
probably never return.
