Are the right about energy?
They were wrong about bonds.
They were wrong about emerging markets.

Howdy Ed,

This is sort of in keeping with their traditionally cautious approach
to investing - broad index funds and avoid the sectors.

And they may be right in the short term and we could see a pullback.

However, anyone that thinks we're going to start conserving (in spite
of what bush requests), or that they are going to solve the energy
crisis in the near future, is on drugs. Not gonna happen.

Would I be putting new money to work in the energy sector right now?
No, but I've got a potfull of exposure already.

What I think is prudent for ALL investors, is to have a set portion of
their asset allocation devoted to natural resources in general. This
is best accomplished with a broad based fund such as Price New Era
PRNEX, RS Global Natural Resources RSNRX or US Global NT PSPFX. All
three of these funds cover all your natural resources including energy,
timber, rocks and minerals and Ed's favorite - - - - - gold and
precious metals.

best,

rono

And if unemployment, consumer confidence, and energy, combine to erode
at traditional fourth quarter retail returns, what's left - winter with
a new defination for thermalwatts on heating bills. Start conserving,
uh-huh. . . And, No - but with a potfull. Sounds to me you're saying
you like cake [but, damn, that icing sure tastes sweet].
