Hi Folks,

Does anyone have a document that stipulates/lists the differences /
enhancements from 1.2 to 3.0 in detail?

Would really help if we could get this.

Thanks
Andre

Everything concerning 3.0 is under NDA at the moment, there is only one
official paper from Microsoft:

http://www.sonomapartners.com/docs/microsoftcrm3-factsheet.pdf

Two sessions from the TechEd have been recorded:

BAP436: Deep Dive into the Next Version of Microsoft Business Solutions CRM
Speaker: William Patterson

This session dives deep into the next generation of Microsoft CRM. Gain a
strong understanding of the changes in system architecture, system security,
application platform and system extensibility.
http://microsoft.sitestream.com/TechEd2005/BAP/BAP436.htm

BAP237: Customize, Extend, Integrate and Innovate Using the Next Version of
Microsoft Business Solutions CRM Solution Developer Kit
Speaker: Naveen Garg
This session centers on new customization capabilities and extensibility
mechanisms available with the next version of Microsoft CRM Solution
Developer Kit (SDK). Topics covered include the new Microsoft CRM SDK
programming model, new add entity feature, new client side SDK, programmatic
import, export and publication of customizations, and new features available
with pre- and post-callouts. The session also spotlights the .NET assembly
integration in workflow.

If you are a microsoft partner, there is some new information on the partner
site (not the MBS partnersource). Including a Flash demo (which is quite lame
but shows some good screenshots) and a few other pieces of information.

We've been after this for some time but the last information we had
from microsoft was, to say the least, poor. The only recent
information we had was a press release which provided a bullet point
list of enhancements but to be honest the same press release could
equally have been used for 1.2 or 1.0. Right now we have nothing we
have nothing to offer any potential customer who looks at CRM and
complains that it is too retrictive, limited, cumbersome, slow etc. A
little objective information from microsft about v3 might help.

Does anyone have information about the Great Plains Integration in
regards to the CRM 3.0 installation?

Also, will it support Great Plains 7.5?

MS should really lift their NDA on this. We have customers dumping MS
CRM because they have tried 1.2, found it lacking and nobody can
credibly tell them that version 3 will solve their problems.

Hi Arne,

Any idea how partners can sign up/get access to the Early Access release at
end of September? Haven't been able to locate a place to do so.

TIA,

My biggest concern with implementing the latest version is that it now uses
SQL Server Reporting Services instead of Crystal Enterprise.

1) Will a tool be offered for migrating customized reports from Crystal
Reports 9 to SSRS?

2) What are the additional hardware and software licensing requirements, if
any?

3) There is an additional learning curve for creating reports via SSRS

4) There is now additional software required for creating or customizing
reports (any version of Visual Studio) that is incompatible with the
previously purchased software (CR9).

Has anybody seen any documentation pertaining to these questions?

Per the following document:

http://www.sonomapartners.com/docs/MicrosoftCRM3_UpgradeBestPractices.pdf

"NOTE: All custom Crystal Reports will have to be re-written in SQL
Reporting Services, after upgrading to CRM 3.0."

We are in the process of implementing MSCRM, and we are hearing "we hope
this is addressed in 3.0" as we point out the many shortcomings in the
service module. It is unfortunate that there is no specific information
available about the improvements, and I encourage Microsoft to help its
customers by publishing this information ASAP.

My understanding is that all CRM partners will automatically be in the
program.

Most of the "big picture" items that will be in v3.0 are public knowledge
and have been documented in various press releases and even the product road
map.

The key word in my post was "specific." Our co. chose MSCRM based on the
"big picture" of 1.2, and it is all of the little things that make the
service module, IMHO, unusable. Having to change the FROM address on every
outgoing email to the queue, for example, is a little thing, but 20 little
things like this add up to frustration, more time to complete tasks, etc.
