Saudi youth lured to Iraq by gangs supporting the military insurgency
against foreign occupation, are being detained for ransom, a report said
Saturday.

The Saudi daily al-Watan quoted "well-informed" security sources as
saying that Iraqi gangs have been arranging the travel and crossing of
Saudi youth to Iraq through Syria.

Once they arrive in Iraq, the Saudis are arrested and their families are
asked to pay a ransom of 150,000 Saudi riyals, about $40,000.

The sources said if the families refused to pay the ransom, the
detainees are placed in detention camps in remote areas and kept there
until the money is paid.

Nice to see Iraq has a burgeoning criminal class devoted to such
schemes. Lots of Iraqis have been kidnapped and held for ransom by
criminals within Iraq as well. I guess they have to seek employment
somehow:) But rather than complain, the Saudis should do something
about those willing to volunteer as jihadists. I wonder if anyone
in the government, police etc. is in on this racket?
